Can It Be Repaired?
Not every puncture can be safely fixed. Here’s how we assess it on arrival:
Tread punctures within the repairable zone
Tread punctures in the central three-quarters of the tyre, with a damaged area no larger than 6mm in diameter — these are repairable under British Standard BSAU 159.
Sidewall damage, shoulder punctures, or driven flat
Sidewall damage, or a puncture too close to the shoulder, is never repairable — the sidewall flexes constantly and any repair would fail. If the tyre’s already been driven on while flat, that can cause damage beyond what’s repairable even if the original puncture was in a repairable spot.
What Happens
We inspect the puncture’s location and depth on arrival. If it’s repairable, it’s fixed there and then. If it’s not, we’ll tell you honestly rather than attempt a repair that won’t hold.
When It’s Not a Repair Job
Sidewall damage or a puncture too far gone needs a replacement, not a repair — see Tyre Swap & Replacement. We don’t carry replacement spares on the roadside van, and proper fitting needs the ramp and balancing equipment a workshop has anyway — so a non-repairable tyre goes through that service instead, where it can be done properly.
