Common Callouts

Whatever the Situation

Roadside assistance covers problems that can usually be fixed where you are, without needing vehicle recovery. These are the most common callouts:

Fixed on the Spot

Flat tyre → inspected and repaired at the roadside where possible, see Tyre Puncture Repair
Dead battery → jump started there and then, see Jump Start
Locked out → specialist tools, no damage, see Vehicle Lockout Assistance
Run out of fuel → fuel top-up where possible, or recovery to the nearest fuel station if that’s safer or easier

Handled the Same Callout

Wrong fuel → drained where possible before the vehicle is driven, or recovered if it needs specialist handling
Stuck in mud, snow or a ditch close to the road → winched clear; if the vehicle drives away fine, no recovery needed. If there’s any damage, we’ll assess before you go
Minor mechanical or electrical issue — a loose connection, a blown fuse → genuinely part of what roadside assistance covers, not just towing
Describe the Symptoms

Battery confirmed failing Car Battery Fitting & Replacement

Stay Safe

While You’re Waiting

The same safety rules apply as any roadside stop. On a motorway hard shoulder: stay behind the barrier, hazards on, don’t put out a warning triangle. On a quieter road: hazard warning lights on, warning triangle around 45 metres back if it’s safe to place one. If anyone’s hurt, call 999 first.

No Second Call

If We Can’t Fix It There

Some faults simply can’t be repaired safely at the roadside — and we’ll tell you that honestly rather than waste your time. If that happens, it escalates straight into a full vehicle recovery — Breakdown Recovery, no separate call needed.

Common Questions

FAQs

What can you fix at the roadside?

Jump starts, puncture repairs (where safe), lockouts, fuel top-ups, wrong-fuel support, and minor mechanical fixes — if we can’t fix it where you are, we escalate into full Breakdown Recovery on the same callout. See linked services for detail.

What if you can’t fix it where I am?

We’ll tell you honestly on arrival. If the vehicle needs moving, we switch to full breakdown recovery — no second call and no starting the process again.

How long will roadside assistance take?

Average arrival around 40 minutes, up to 60 minutes at the edge of our coverage area. We’ll keep you updated after dispatch.

Do I need breakdown cover or membership?

No — call us direct. If you’re with the AA or RAC, we’re also on their dispatch networks, so either route works.

Is there a call-out fee?

No call-out fee — we’ll quote upfront before we dispatch.
