Eastract Specialist Recovery — For Vehicles Standard Trucks Can’t Reach

Vehicle stuck somewhere a standard recovery truck can’t get to — or stuck in a way a winch can’t fix? That’s what our Eastract unit is for: a remote-controlled tracked machine that slides under a vehicle and moves it without needing the wheels to turn, or needing room for a flatbed to get close.

(Also written as “Easytrac” — same service, same equipment, just a common alternative spelling.)

For standard breakdown recovery, see Breakdown Recovery. For crane lifting, see HIAB Crane Specialist Recovery.

What It Is

What Eastract Is

Eastract is specialist recovery equipment — typically used only where conventional recovery methods aren’t practical. Made by French manufacturer Multitract, it slides underneath a vehicle’s wheels and lifts and moves it from there. That means it doesn’t need the vehicle to be in neutral, doesn’t need wheels that turn, and doesn’t need the clearance a flatbed or winch recovery would.

It’s the right tool when the problem isn’t damage — it’s access, or a mechanical lock-up that rules out conventional methods.

Common Callouts

Whatever the Situation

Mechanical Lock-Up

Stuck in gear, dead-locked or won’t go to neutral → the unit slides under and moves the vehicle without relying on the vehicle’s own drivetrain or steering
EV that won’t go into neutral conventionally → moved without putting strain on the drivetrain
Vehicle locked or burnt-out → still recoverable even when conventional access methods can’t help

Access & Ground Conditions

Multi-storey or underground car park with low barriers → fits where a standard recovery wagon physically can’t; the unit goes in remote-controlled, slides under the vehicle and brings it out to where a standard truck can take over
Stuck in mud, gravel or other soft ground → the tracked base provides traction where a wheeled recovery vehicle may struggle to reach or move the vehicle
Stuck in snow → same tracked approach; Eastract can pull the vehicle clear without needing it to roll first
The Process

How It Works

1

Unit positioned remotely

Positioned outside the access point and remote-controlled into place — no need to get a full-sized truck close first.

2

Slides under the wheels

Low enough to work in spaces nothing else can reach.

3

Vehicle lifted and moved

Lifted just enough to move it, fully under control, without needing it to roll or steer.

4

Recovery continues

Once clear of the tight spot or obstruction, vehicle loaded and taken to your home, garage or our storage.

Drop-Off Options

Where Your Vehicle Goes

You’re welcome to ride along with us to wherever your vehicle’s headed — your home, a local garage, or our storage. If you need a ride from there instead, our drivers will help you sort one out.

Before We Arrive

While You’re Waiting

No need to keep trying to force the gearbox into neutral or move the vehicle yourself — that’s the situation Eastract is built for. If you’re in a multi-storey or underground car park, let us know the level, barrier height and how much room there is around the vehicle when you call, so we bring the right unit straight away.

Common Questions

FAQs

My car’s stuck in gear — does it have to be towed?

No — we don’t rely on the vehicle’s own drivetrain or steering. Eastract moves the vehicle without putting it in neutral, so a gearbox or neutral fault doesn’t mean a rough tow or further drivetrain damage.

Is “Easytrac” the same service?

Yes — same equipment, same service. “Easytrac” is a common alternative spelling; both refer to the same Multitract unit.

I’m stuck in a multi-storey or underground car park — can you reach me?

Often yes. Eastract is remote-controlled and low-profile enough for multi-storey and underground car parks where a full recovery truck can’t fit. Tell us the level, barrier height and how much room you have when you call.

My EV won’t go into neutral — can you still move it?

Yes — if the car won’t shift into neutral, which is common on some EVs, we move it without the driven wheels turning so we don’t strain the motor or transmission.

I’m stuck in mud or snow — can Eastract help?

Yes — the tracked base gives grip where a wheeled truck would spin or sink. Eastract can pull the vehicle clear without you needing to get it rolling first.

How is Eastract different from a HIAB crane?

Eastract slides under a vehicle and moves it on tracks — it’s for access and mechanical lock-up situations. A HIAB crane lifts the vehicle from above — it’s for overturned vehicles, off-road recoveries and situations where the vehicle needs to be lifted clear rather than rolled. Both are specialist tools; the right one depends on the situation. If you’re not sure, describe what’s happened when you call and we’ll send the right equipment.
